  1. Put all the fruit unprepared into the fridge for a few hours to chill well.

  2. Prepare the fruit for eating with the fingers, peel oranges and divide into segments, removing any pith. Wash, quarter and core the apples and slice.

  3. Break the grapes into bunches of 3-4 grapes each. Peel the banana and cut into large pieces. Cut the melon into quarters, peel and cut the flesh into fingers. Leave the strawberries whole and unhulled. Wash the cherries, leaving the stalks intact.

  4. Arrange the fruit attractively on a very well chilled dish and sprinkle with lemon juice. Sprinkle with ice just before serving.
