Preheat oven to 190°C/375°F/Gas

Remove stalks from tomatoes.
Using a sharp knife cut a shallow cross in the rounded end of each tomato.

Brush with a little melted
butter and season with salt and pepper.

Put tomatoes into a roasting
tin and bake for about 10 minutes, until soft but not out of shape.
